Ken, “Gilead” is terrific. It’s one of those rare novels you read where you literally linger over every word–Robinson is so good at word pictures, and sacramental word pictures at that. Robinson is a big fan of Calvin–and makes no bones about it; she has written other works defending him. But you can see her Calvinism throughout her fiction as well. By all means, pick up “Gilead” as soon as you can and enjoy.
But not ALL books-e.g., Marilynne Robinson.
