Halloween and Other Hot Topics

Halloween. The September 11 attacks. Global warming.

Hot topics can present a troubling challenge, even in a culture that values freedom of speech. Do we ignore touchy issues and avoid all confrontation, or do we engage in verbal warfare with the opposition? Fortunately, there is a third option: presenting our opinions with gentleness, integrity, and respect for those with differing views.

We at RTB do not shy away from addressing controversial subjects, but we always strive to maintain civil discourse with those who disagree with us. With Halloween on the horizon, I offer up this selection of hot topics from Reflections and other RTB venues.

Let us know what you think!

Halloween

Conspiracy theories and 9/11

Global warming

Christianity’s hot topics

The Christian faith itself is built on radical, controversial ideas, such as salvation by grace. I call this and other doctrines Christianity’s dangerous ideas. You can read about them in my latest book, 7 Truths That Changed the World.

  1. Hi Ken!

A great essay on Halloween. I tell my children about the Reformation perspective on Halloween. And then I let them dress up and get candy.

One of our cute little kids that we adopted was one pound and three ounces at birth. She just turned three. Her name is Grace. She loves Tinker Bell, so that is what she will be dressed up as as she goes Trick or Treating.

I love the picture in your article of the little girl with the pumpkin filled with candy. That is what Halloween is all about!

    Blessings,

  2. Thanks, Lloyd.

May God continue to bless you and your wonderful family!
